Image Demake Terminal
An Oddly Specific Image Converter
This tool falls somewhere in the cracks between a pixel converter, image bit crusher, and demake kit with scan line aesthetics.
This app takes any image you upload and generates a lower resolution version with pixel-perfect point filtering and a limited color palette in order to re-imagine what the image would look like if it had been designed for older hardware.
You can also choose to scale up the output files for ease of sharing.
Features
- Color palette limiter.
- DITHERING!!!
- Toggle between color and greyscale.
- Custom image sizes.
- Output images are scalable.
Possible Uses
- Demaking screenshots from new games to see what they might have looked like on older hardware,
- Creating a vintage aesthetic for your DnD campaign or your artwork,
- Taking a public domain image and converting it to something that fits your vibe,
- Sharing cool photos of things on social media,
- Processing materials for a game project or other creative endeavor,
- Or really, anything you want.
Perpetual Beta
Apologies in advance. I was a tad sick when I coded this tool and came back to it with the thought of just putting it out there. It works for what I need it to and maybe this weirdly specific thing can fill someone's day with joy. That's all just to say that this in perpetual beta.
Trust me. You have no idea how many times I messed with this app's theme and functions.
Note for Use
Hi! In order to get the most out of this tool, you'll need to fiddle with the color range and image preview sizes. Each of the screenshots on this page were made with different values. The software looks for the most common ranges of colors within a piece when deciding the 'steps' to hit for each color/value range.
