Yes ... But!

Welcome to Yes … But! (“YEB” for short!)  YEB is a basic RPG framework for collaborative storytelling.  Death is never a thing in this world, unless the player wants it.

In this system, the Game Master (GM) supplies a situation and the players make actions via their characters to find solutions and progress the plot.  Actions can succeed wonderfully, or they can succeed, but the scenario becomes more complicated.

In this RPG system, there are no deaths, at least not without player consent.  When you make an action, roll a D6 and add your stat.  One of 3 things can happen …

Yes! (6 or higher)

The action succeeds!

Yes, but! (4-5)

The action succeeds, but something bad happens to complicate the situation.

No, and! (3 or lower)

The action fails and something bad happens to complicate the situation.
